I'm Not Weird.

I am  tagged!

Each player of this game states 6 weird things about their self. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things, as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "Tag! You're weird!" on their blog and tell them to read your entry. Also, post who you tagged on your site.

1.  I really, really, really like soap, but I don't like girly soap.  It is never sudsy enough for me.  And it never smells... natural.  It smells like strong perfume and I have never particularly liked perfume.  I like to wash things because soap smells really good and gets all foamy and shit.  But I hate.  FUCKING HATE bubble baths.  I don't even know why, they sort of make me angry. :3

2.  I focus on words.  There are some words that embarrass me to hear them and I will pretend not to hear you if you use them.  It makes me squirm.  I know that it's dumb and I try not to hold it against you, but I usually fail.  If I squirm for what seems like no reason, you've found one of the Words I Hate.

3.  I hate breaking things.  Even if I'm mad at them.  Even if I want to break them.  I can't.

4.  I like to eat burned food.  Not like, blackened to a crisp or anything, but I don't eat eggs much if they don't have a little carbon on them.  And peanut butter.

5.  Speaking of which, I hate butter.  A lot.  Butter and mayo should not come into contact with me.  Neither should canola oil, but that's just an allergy.

6. I really, really like to throw things out of moving car windows.  No worries, I almost never do it on freeways.  Usually on backroads, and it's just biodegradable stuff, like banana peels or apple cores.  Watching it bounce gives me such glee.  Glee is the perfect term for that.

I tag... no one!  Everyone I was gonna tag already did it, and that's no fun at all, is it? XD

3. The first person you called?
Wendy Chu.  She lives next door!

Year-End Shitz0rz

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?  I moved out of my mom's house, moved to another country.  That was new.  I keep strengthening that spine.  I started to break ties with people who are and were leeches on my emotional and mental health.  I haven't really done that in so many words.  I studied a foreign language, I learned to use Japanese toilets, I learned a bunch on kanji, used a public bath (alone, but still!),  climbed a mountain, went to a temple, went to a shrine, and goddamn if living a life in another country makes you do lots of shit you've never done before.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?  I don't really remember my New Year's resolutions, but I'll make some this year.  I don't really know what, though.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?  Nope, but I expect her to next year.  Preggo, I love you.

4. Did anyone close to you die? No, I don't think so.  My dog was put down, but we weren't very close.

5. What countries did you visit?  Japan.  I live here now.  That would be it.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?  Confidence in my own decisions, pretty much.

7. What date(s) from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory?  April 7th.  The day I moved to Japan, really.  That was pretty life-changing, indeed.  I think I'll remember the week of my birthday, since that was pretty rockin'.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?  I stepped up and I did something this year.  I moved to another country and I think, overall, I handled it pretty decently.  It's not that great an achievement, it's not something I can put up on my wall, but it's badass.

9. What was your biggest failure?  Biggest failure was a personal thing.  I didn't measure up as well as I thought I was going to.  I backslid (into the Flames of Hell) and I just could NOT get my shit together for about a month.  I wish I would have stayed in Japan for the summer break - not because I didn't enjoy being at home, but because I don't think I improved my Japanese at all.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?  No serious physical injury was sustained, really.  Just bruises and stuff.

11. What was the best thing you bought?  Plane tickets and my guitar.  Well, and yakisoba pan, but that's another story entirely.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?  James, most definitely.  Thanks, dude.  You've kindof been a mindfuck all at once.  Sometimes, I wish you would stop that.  But most of the time, I'm pretty thankful about it.  There are people who will remain unnamed that have made big leaps in their own lives, and you peeps are awesome.  I'd like to be more specific, but for sake of privacy, we shall leave it at this XD

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?  My own.  I did some things this year that I am pretty damn ashamed of.  Certain members of my family that will remain unnamed.  You gave up, you didn't support me, you didn't bother to try.  And goddamnit, I am sick of that.  It's not like I don't have my own troubles to deal with, thankyouverymuch.  Some of my friends.  Why did you do that?  It's so much easier when I'm 6000 miles away, isn't it?  I can't yell at you here, so you feel like you can just say whatever you want and there aren't any consequences?  Hooo, just wait, you bastards.

14. Where did most of your money go?  Rent, plane tickets and food.  I didn't really register how expensive food gets.  Holy crap.  Alcohol.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?  Well, moving to Japan and climbing Mount Fuji would probably top the list.  Other than that, just normal stuff, I guess.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?  Journey's "Midnight Train," or whatever it's called.  Frankly, I hate this question because I can never think of one that's like... year-long.  No, wait!  John Denver's "Country Roads".  The English Camp songs XDD

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

      1. Happier or sadder?  Sadder, I think.  These last few months have not been kind to me, but they've been a very necessary evil.

      2. Thinner or fatter?  About the same, I think.

      3. Richer or poorer?  Poorer.  Moving to another country is expensive!

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?  I wish I'd gotten back into my hobbies.  I wish I'd tried harder to make myself a better person, to make myself more of what I want to be.  I wish I had done more bodybuilding.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?  Angry ranting.  Telling people things.  Drunkenly lunging around.  Being lazy.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?  Taking tequila shots, actually, at Lonely Planet (singles' drinking night, hosted by Chae.).  I think.  (yes, I did.  And played Mario!)

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?  I can't really say I did.  I dated someone, but there wasn't any love there.  There were people that I loved, I guess.  Hmm.  The answer is no.

22. How many one-night stands?  None.  WOOOOOO.  I deserve a medal.

23. What was your favorite TV program?  Probably Family Guy.  Boring!

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?  I don't think I'd call it hate in some cases.  I think there were some serious betrayals of trust, but I don't hate them.  I don't feel strongly enough for that.  I don't think so, to actually answer the question.

25. What was the best book you read?  As much as I hate to admit it... Harry Potter.  All six of them.  They were fabulously entertaining.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?  The joys of huge-ass playlists and mp3 players.

27. What did you want and get?  I wanted to move to Japan.  I did.  I wanted to climb Fuji and I did that, too.  I donated blood twice, I spoke in Japanese, I taught at a high school (twice!), to live alone in the dorms.

28. What did you want and not get?  I wanted to get a better body than I have, which I will need to work on.  I have to try harder in that department.  I wanted to be more fluent in Japanese than I am (need to work on that, too), I wanted someone (again) to need me in a way that he just couldn't do.  I wanted to stop that, too.

29. What did you not want, or not know you wanted, but got anyway?  I didn't know I wanted someone to call me on all the stupid mistakes I made.  And hooooo, did I get that.  I appreciate it now, but at the time it was rather disconcerting.  I got a new outlook on America.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?  I only really saw one, and that was Pirates of the Caribbean 2.  So I guess that would be it.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?  I was 20, and I woke up at like... 1.  James had called me, he was at the library.  James and I went to Coco's and ate lunch (mmm half quesadilla), then I got an ume onigiri.  Mmm.  Delicious.  Leon joined us and we went to Hachimanyama and played around on the playground, walked the go-kart track and left.  James and I ate sandwiches and mashed potatoes (mm.).  Then we watched Saved!, because he didn't really want to watch Rocky Horror.  I don't blame him XDD  and then Wen called and we went to Keigo's and drank.  Then we came back and talked for a long time.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?  Having made the decision to not let other people's mistakes affect me as deeply as they did.  Also, being able to hide my feelings better.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?  I Don't Want to Do Any More Laundry Than I Have To, So I Will Wear The Same Clothes Four Times.

34. What kept you sane?  ...funny you should ask.  I am not sure I was.  I would lay almost all the blame for both sides of the coin on James.  Damn that guy, he makes shit weird.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?  Barack Obama became my hero in December.  Other than that, I didn't fancy anyone that much.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?  Probably the habeus corpus thing.  That disgusts me.

37. Who did you miss?  My sister, mostly.  In the second half of the year, anyway.  I mean, I missed all my friends while overseas, but you deal with that and it's not an everyday thing, it's a once-in-a-while thing because there's no point in pining. :)

38. Who was the best new person you met?  I met shittons of new people.  James, Jun, Yumiko, Han, Taro, Ali, Daichi, Yuzo, Erika, Chewie, Yota, Asami, Mayuko, Misha, Kou, Papa, Hiroko, Chae, Mariyo, Leon, Miruna, Edda, Jenny, Jackie, Aya, Nao-chan, Yo-chan, Yoshiko, Yura, Brenden, Azusa, Olivia, Boriyana, Yasu, Kazuya. Vuth, Naoko, Keiko, Little Nao, Big Nao, Yo, Satoshi, Nanami, Keigo, Mikae, Tuong, Wen, Tom, Qi, Wakayama, Lori-Ann, Andrew, Takagiwa, Hiroko, Christian (x2!), Sharif, Boyun, Jashmin, Nelson, Elsa... man, they are all pretty fabulous.  The person that was most influential was James, but I met him in 2005.  I actually was friends with him in 2006, in April.  But I met him in November of 2005.  So besides him, probably Brenden or Wen.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:  Delusion is one of the most powerful forces I have.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"At first I was hurt
But then I started to think

It shouldn't hurt me to be free
It's what I really need
To pull myself together
But if it's so good being free
Would you mind telling me
Why I don't know what to do with myself?" - To Be Free, Emiliana Torrini

Bed Lament.

My bed is the best bed in the world.  It makes me sleep like, 13 hours a night.  Because I wake up and I DON'T WANT TO MOVE.  At all.  I just sit there.  Going, goddamn, this thing rocks.  It is squishy, perfectly warm, too big for its own good (so you roll all over it because it is so wonderful).

God, I love my bed.

But.  It makes me late for everything.  Because I sleep through alarms badly enough as it is.  And add in the beauty of this mattress?  Well, I just don't stand a chance.

But there is a price to pay, my friends, for such comfort.

Terrible dreams.  This bed WILL give you the creepiest dreams ever.  People dream of being choked while hearing, "Here, kitty kitty..." and then blame ME.  Like I did it.  This bed assaults you in your sleep with squish-fu and bad-dream-do.
